The reconstruction of Liepāja Regional Hospital was carried out in several phases, with one of the most important conditions being the uninterrupted operation of the hospital throughout the entire reconstruction process – the hospital could not cease its activities for even an hour. The second phase of the hospital’s reconstruction began in 2012, during which the basement was renovated to build staff locker rooms. On the first floor, the Functional Diagnostics and Radiology departments were constructed, while the second floor saw the development of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Neonatal Pathology and Intensive Care Unit, delivery rooms, and the Angiography department. In the third and fourth phases of the hospital’s reconstruction, maternity ward rooms and the outpatient section were built, along with the renovation of the main building’s west wing. Upon completion, the 14-story building’s facade was insulated, and an alternative energy system was installed on the roof, which will partially provide the hospital with electricity.
